“Life is beautiful, there are lots of things to do and one we did this time”
Chilled morning but our desire is much
hotter than that. Took a bath of hot water and get ready for what we planned.
We are ready with our baggage and our super bikes Royal Enfield Classic 350
(Silver) and The Thunder Bird 350 (Black) waiting for that moment. I and Hardy
get down to the ground floor. Hardik is master in baggage fitting. He helps me
to fit that baggage on my classic. Splint of silence in the environment, I
kicked my Bull. Then I listen the great sound Gut Gut....Gut
Gut....Grooooooooom. And the Dream Journey begins.
Completely covered with Helmets, Glows, Shoes, and Jackets etc...Initially decided to drive at 60 KMPH. We keep that momentum and moving towards the S.G Highway. After crossing the sola bridge we move towards to Gota Bridge, where we got our first power buster of the trip The great Hardly Davidson with full roaring on its speed at the opposite direction of the bridge. Our excitement reaches at the top of the sky. We were so motivated and so different at that point of time. We never imagine such thing will happen with us at first 30 minutes of the trip. After this we gear up our bikes and now speedometer is touching 80-100 KMPH on SG Highway. We are on full energised and exited by thinking that we are going for our dream journey. But journey is just begun. After crossing the Adalaj we took the Ahmadabad–Mahesana Expressway at around 5.45 AM. We keep driving at our speed and completed it in around 6.55 AM. After that we took bypass of Mahesana which is just fresh opened for the public so we took that option. Sun is still not come out and we are still relaying on the powerful headlight of Classic and projector light of the great Thunder bird. Bypass road is so silent and full of natural beauty like farm, Cow and buffalos. Now we are getting Sun out and we are feeling the first sunray touch that will never ever happen before my life. After almost 2.30 hours continuous journey we decided to took a break for the cup of tea and refreshment. We are passing through Unava village. Previously I went there because of the world famous Religious place of Hazrat Sayed Ali Mira Datar. After prayer in Daragah Sharif we took high tea and resume our dream journey. It’s almost 8.00 AM of the morning. Quickly we are crossing Unjha, Siddhpur and reached at Palanpur and clock is touching almost 9.00 AM. We take a special break for finalising our route and places from where we will be reaching to the destination. During that we announced our dream on social media. We updated status on Facebook and moving towards Disha. In between we filled our fuel tank for the further ridding.

We almost covered 180+
KM in 4 hours. After that we cross Disha and reached to the Dhanera Village, It’s
almost 11 AM of the morning. We take a cup of tea and some snacks and review
out status for the further move. We come to know that still there is 330+ KM
has been left and we need to cover that before sunset for the safety reason. We
left Dhanera after the break. After Crossing Dhanera the next target is Sanchor
which is almost 50 KM far from Dhanera. Now we are into the Rajasthan. The State of Palaces and Kings.
Initially the roads are quite narrow and feeling like we were taking some bumpy
rides. We cross the bumpy rides and now we were on the National Highway-15 the
prime road of our journey. We never imagine that the road of Rajasthan is far
better than Gujarat with respect to the traffic sense and People frequency. Now
we were in Rajasthan driving at 80 KMPH speed. We were getting pride by not only ridding our
bikes, but the people were start attending four of us (Me, Hardik, RE Classic
350 and RE Thunder Bird 350). That time we realised that now we were 4 people
who are travelling in this journey. People were so curious about us. The roar
of the Royal machines was on its peak in the silence of the Rajasthan. Children
were so happy by watching us. We were getting so positive energy from us. In
our previous journey of Udaipur in 2013, we travelled through Car and we show
some RE bikers group, we felt and decided that day. One day we will be there on
those bikes like those riders and now that day has arrived. We were on the full
swing. In between we did exchange our RE to feel some change. We draw almost
100 KM with each other’s bikes.
Its 3.30 PM now and we
reached to Barmer, Rajasthan through Sanchor and now we were planning to eat
something before start next journey. We almost covered 430+ KM covered till the
time but still far to go. 155KM is remaining. We took heavy lunch of Vegetable
Kolhapuri, Hydrabadi Biryani, Butter Milk and Chapati at hotel Royal Palace.
After lunch we checked out cell phones and attend some calls. Suddenly we
realise that Its 4.30 PM now. We have to cover more distance in short time. We
decided to complete journey before 7.00 PM anyhow. We took the Barmer bypass
which was leading directly towards the Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. In the way we
found many BSF camps and BSF patrolling on the road which gives a shake of
safety to us from inside. Time was less and travelling journey challenging in
unknown roads that was the one of worry. Now out speedometer was heating 100
KMPH and till 5.45 PM we were able to cover almost half distance, but still
long way to go. We got some positive energy from the past coverage that we
already covered 500 KM so now only 80 Km is remaining and that will happen
today itself. We took small break of 10 minutes in which we refresh our self.
Again the show gets ON and the beautiful sunset was happening. Lot of WINDMILL is
there in our ways and frequency of vehicles was very less. We continuously
drive on 90-100 KMPH. Sunset has been happened and we were almost 20KM away
from the destination. Till the time we are sensing the smell of the Desert City
and the destination of our dream Journey. Within 15 Minutes we were in to the
dream land.
Within a few minutes
we were into the Jaisalmer. Initially we were completely blank about the city.
In-fact we didn’t had booked any hotel. We roam for 5-10 minutes to identify
the location the city area where we can make out stay perfect. Suddenly we
found one 20-22 years boy with his bike asking for the hotel. Rahul is less
emphasising on earning money from us but instead he want that these bikers
should be stay at my place. We decided to go with him and look in to that. The
place was in the fort area. We drive the bikes in heights to reach there.
People were looking like with different angle. Two super bikers with full
fledge wearing were went inside the fort with roaring. We parked our bikes and
detach baggage and move inside the hotel place. Place is very deep and heighted
inside the fort but at the end when we see those rooms we are quite happy with
the location. It was almost top of the fort from where we can view entire city
view. We felt so satisfied and proud that time. Me are Hardy was thinking that
ohhh man we did it today. 580+ KM in single day with continuous driving of 14
hours. We were on the top of the world. We refreshed and planned to go for
dinner. Hardy was good in exploring eating place so he found one restaurant
Pivot for dinner. We started by walk this time because we want to give some
exercise to out booms and rest to bikesJ. Also we were very serious about
the next day plan. We were very confuse about the destination so we start
exploring local market for some reference and then decided to go for dinner. We
come to know that we had couple of place where we can spend our time. One time
we both were confused that which place we need to cover and which not because
of time crunch. We had local site scene, Ladurva Jain Temple, Sam Dunes with
Tent Stay, Tanot the India Pakistan border. We put everything aside in this
confusion and thought lets have some food now and then will thing what to do
with all this. We
finished our dinner in typical Rajasthan style and went back for the hotel. In between one guy we found, his name is Ayyub Khan yes he is not my father in law J but he is local guide for the tourist. We found him very humble and economical with compare to other one. We took his contact number and move on for the hotel. We took awesome sleep in our place as our batteries are running out of power. It was like a big powernap for us to recharge our strength. We slept at 11.30 PM and wake up around 9.00 AM next day 17th January 2015. I and Hardy insist each other to wake up and take a bath in chilled morning. We almost get ready by 10 and called Ayyub K (AK) for our rest plan of the day. He called us at his office for discussion and planning. We started at 10 AM and what we show is that the fort is full of crowd in those lots of foreigners, school students, college students and we, J obviously. Everybody was steering to us as usual nothing new but yes we were getting lots of positive energy from those. We went to AK’s office and he explained everything about our rest of the day plan. Plan will start from 3 PM so we quickly took a decision that we should have to complete breakfast quickly and capture the local site scene till 2 PM and left for the Sam Dunes desert. We took a handsome and popular heavy breakfast outside of the fort which includes Mirchi wada the famous dish of Rajasthan, Kachori, Kadhi Papad. In between lots of people were coming to us and asking the questions like from where you come and how much you draw etc etc...We both happily were answering those questions. Hardy was smart enough he already keep the Jaisalmer Map in his bag from the one of the book store near to our hotel. After breakfast we decided to move on for the first place Visit that was Gadisar Lake located at the centre in the City. We easily reached there in couple of minutes. We go inside and feel so traditional Rajasthani traditional look. We took some photographs over there but we deny for Boating as we are not interested due to lake water was not that much and the main reason was we don’t want to waste our time for boating because that can be possible in anywhere. We came out and show some shops outside and both were
thought, lets had something for our dear once those gave the permission for big and great ridding. We bought some choosey typical Rajasthani things and move on. We were just near to parking area and we found one group of bikers like us. They were out from last 8 days and covered 2000+ kms. This was the power booster again for us to start towards Sam dunes. We thought not to wear helmet for some time and wear Rajasthani cap which we bought from Gadisar Lake to make feel like we are in to the Rajasthan. We took some biscuits and snacks and move further. On the way we found that there is a Jain Temple so we decided to visit the great art of Jainism. We quickly visited that place and now it’s around 2.00 PM afternoon. We have to reach at Sam Dunes till 3.00 PM. We gear up and move on. The desert was started and roads were so silent. I can say that “NO MANS LAND”. We never ever ride and see such kind of beauty of land. We felt so lucky that god give us chance to see this beauty of the earth. We were just riding and shooting the snaps in between. We were reached to our tent place easily after paying tourist tax J of 20 INR per bike. Out Jeep was already waiting for us to roar in the Desert Safari. We felt so exited but first we need to find our tent and put all the baggage there. Again people were so exited and they asked that
we were waiting for you 2 bikers. Without delay we just took our tents and park our bikes exact near to it. For park near to tent, we had to drive in sand. Initially it looks difficult but once bike start roaring everything was looking so adventurous. We did not drive bikes in desert sand before. Somehow we managed to do that. We refreshed quickly and started for the Desert Safari as Jeep was already waiting for us. We started jeep Safari at 4:00 PM. Jeep man started the trip. We never imagine how exiting this one earlier. In fact this was not in the schedule earlier when we start our trip. I must say thanks to AK for suggesting the bumpy ride in Thar Desert. He rolled us in Thar Desert like anything. Only sand were there and people on camel and other Jeep Safari were there. The ride was full of fun and adventurous. We felt so fortunate for choosing this one. We stayed one place in the desert to feel the smell of desert. But I found one horrible face of the India that nobody wanted to see. I found one little child over there in the desert with the camel. Hardy was busy in capturing snap and everything but I was very inquisitive. Child was hardly 12-14 years old. He was continuously asking for camel ride but we already booked so there is no question to deal with him. I did not stop him as he was doing his job for some reason and I start exploring him. Asked his name and he replied that his name was Iman. I asked couple of more question like “Didn’t you go for school? Why you doing this job etc etc...” He shares his story that there is no school around the area and he was the person who needs to earn and do everything for his family because his father doesn’t want to do any work. He told me that he rented this camel from his owner and the rent is 2000 INR per month. It was so touching moment, I felt so guilty on this. For a second I did not believe that I am in India. With the heavy heart we move on. It’s around 5:15 PM and driver took us where we need to begin our camel safari. Till camel came we decide to take cup of tea. Camel came for our safari and journey continues. Now the camel man was old age person whose age was nearly to 55 years. Person was so enthusiastic. He shows us how to sit on the camel and everything. I and Hardy took our seat and move on. We started towards the Sam dunes desert. Lots of foreigners with camels were enjoying, Cheering, Appreciating and clicking snaps. I asked Camel man about the camel. He told the details about camel and everything. Our camel name was “LALU”. We were enjoying flat surface of sand but we were waiting for up and down of the sand and the real desert. After few minutes we were into the core desert area. Fair amount of tourists were there with their own vehicle “The Camel”. Now we are finally at the place what we imagined. Never ever in my life I had seen the desert. This was the first and beautiful experience that I cherished throughout my life time. Camel man took hold at one place where he wants to do Namaz, during that time we were busy in photography. It was a perfect moment for us. Life is so beautiful without the noise of vehicles, shouting of industries, train, flight, quarrel etc... We felt the huge peace in the desert where nobody going to disturb us. No work pressure, not project deadlines, No fear, No worries, No distraction, No fighting, only silence. The one word came in mind that time is “Life ho to Aisi”. We did lot of fun in desert with LALU like make him run and enjoy the bumpy ride of him, capturing selfie with Lalu . Suddenly clock was heading to 6:15 PM and sun was going down slowly. We capture the some amazing moment till the time. We enjoyed great in desert with Camel and Jeep. Must say that “Paisa Vasul”, But journey yet not end, there were lot to come yet. Lalu just drop us at our base location where our tent placed. We appreciated Lalu’s effort. We happily went in the camp where AK was standing in front of us. We thanks him for the great deal but he said yet lots of things will be remaining. We were so happy that time and we went for some refreshment in our tent.

We were so happy that time and we went for some refreshment in our tent.
Within a few minutes
we were again ready for the evening event. People are already prepare them self
for the celebration. We went to the circle area where wonderful arrangement has
already been done from the tent staff. Bed and pillows were put in such
attractive fashion with the kept in mind of guests comfort. We went at that
place and took our place closer to the performers. We didn’t want to miss
single thing by sitting away. Within a few minutes all the seats packed and
event begun. Some wonder full welcome song sung by the performer “Padharo maro desh” followed by sufi
qawaali and some Rajasthani folk Dance. We were amazed by looking all the
performers because those were not specially called for performance but they
were those who were managing everything in afternoon. I was so surprised by
looking such a wonderful multi talented people. They were so dedicated to
whatever they were doing. Their comfort has been commendable. Within all the
performance they did camp fire in the centre of the circle and it’s amazing in
the cold. Everything looks perfect. After the performance had been completed
they started DJ song and we did some dhinga masti on the dance near to camp
fire and keep the atmosphere warm in the cold night. At the beginning of the
event nobody knows each other but at the end everybody come closer and made
them self comfortable. We really damn hungry that day and we were looking a
signal for dinner. We were almost the initial couple people who were initiated.
It has been completely Rajasthani thali which includes Daal, Baati, Churma, etc
etc...We ate like anything and finish the dinner. During the dinner we were
planning for the next day because we already come to know that tomorrow morning
we have to again start our ridding journey. We already cleared our mind to
visit for Tanod near to India Pakistan border area. We were just hypothetically
calculating the ridding because we did not want drive under any kind of
pressure. After dinner we just chit chat with the people and made a way to our
tent. In the silent desert with the limited lighting the sky has been looked
like a new bride. After a long time I had seen such a wonderful stars in the
dark sky. It’s phenomenal. We realized that what we are doing in our life. We
stop our self and think for some time that what kind of life we are living. In how
much noise and pollution we are spending our life. We lost our self in the race
of earning and winning the things but what we are losing instead of some bugs
and show off to those people who we actually don’t like.
We were completely silent, even mind had blinded that time. Actually we were feeling our self poor, Poor with the natural beauty and its advantages. We moved on for sleeping with heavy heart. It had been already a very tight day so all the energy had been already wiped. First time in life I took a sleep in tent. I am so exited but tired so there is no chance to celebrate. Within a few hours and it’s again a morning, we already scheduled our day so we take quick bath in tent with hot water and ready for the breakfast. After that we packed up our self for the next mile stone as decided. We pack our bag to our bikes and say bye to everybody. Now it’s time to move on and next mile stone is 145KM which is Tanod Mata mandir. We heard lot of thing regarding that place about the monuments of unexploded Bomb and Other weapons. We took a help of local people to reach Tanod. The road was completely passing through desert. I was feeling myself lucky that I am doing such a wonderful journey. Such kind of feeling only happens in dream but we were actually feeling it. It’s unbelievable. We two only on the road and suddenly I stopped my bike and hardy also did the same as he was behind me. We shut down our engine immediately and make the atmosphere silence because I had seen pair of black buck passing through the road. Within a couple of second they ran such a hard they disappeared from out sight. But we were able to catch those one. Our journey adds new mile stone. We were exited and moved on. On the way we found 3 Royal Enfield with 6 people, those one also came like us from Jodhpur. We energized and took journey together till Tanod. We were now 5 bikes so we felt great. The entire atmosphere roaring the voice of RE silencer. We reached to Tanod at 12.45 PM via Ramghad Village. We were feeling like Jai and Viru of Sholay Movie, J Not on horse but on a Horse Power. We refresh our self and take a visit of Tanod mata mandir, Haji Pir Dargah and unexploded weapons. We planned to move ahead further and visit the exact border area but Indian BSF rangers did not allowed us. But we did not have disappointed and appreciate their concerns on our security. We discuss lots of things with Indian rangers and they were so pleasant to us. They suggested visiting Lombiwala place which was parallel to Tanod border area where 1972 War had been fought. This place had been never in our journey list. We quickly revise our plan and it adds around 70 km more in our planned journey. We took a quick call based on that feeling if not now than never. We move on with the one of the bests bumping straight road. The road is so beautiful in desert that we can see 2-3km road from current location. We drive around 45km in 35 minutes and make our way to Lombiwala. The road was completely no man’s land. Thanks to god for smooth riding without any obstacles. One ranger stops us politely at Lombiwala and shows us the path where we can park our bikes for further visit of the place. We unpack our self and visit the place. Ranger explained everything so nicely. We show Pakistani tank which had been blasted during the war by Indian Air force. Visited 3 water lily in which Pakistani army put down the poison inside to make it unused for India. We also visited small temple shown in the Border movie. Its 2:45 PM and we were bit worry about our journey b
ecause the journey board displaying 124 km to Jaisalmer. We need
to reach to Badmer before sunset because we did not want to drive over night
but unfortunately now we have to take small risk. We need to cover 280km from
Lombiwala to reach Badmer. We did not waste single minutes and move on towards
the Jaisalmer. Initial 10-15km road was not good because work was in progress
but somehow we manage with speed. We reached to Jaisalmer in around 5.30 PM. We
didn’t have time but still we took some break for resting, fuel and snakes. We
decided not to stay at Jaisalmer otherwise next day I need to cover 580KM and
Hardy need to cover 680KM. Also we will have to go to office at very next day.
Now time was heading 5:45 PM and 155KM is on board. We had idea about sun light
will remain till 7 PM so we put our horses in the final gear and above the
80kmph. Till 7 PM we did fair enough to cover 100KM from 155km. Now everything
was dark on the highway. We two were moving with constant speed with powerful
projector light of thunderbird and Classic. We were moving in bits and pieces
with taking some snacks in break. Around 8:30 PM we were took an entry in the
Badmer. We were blind as we both visited this town first time. After some
assessment we found one economical hotel for stay as we had to stay for
overnight because next day was already scheduled. After refreshing and
unpacking we went for dinner, PAN and some money dispensing. We took healthy
rest in the room. We already drive 470+km that day. Next day sure shot the plan
was to get up early around 6 and move on towards home but due to tiredness we
could not be able to wake up early. We wake up late and leave the Badmer till 9
AM. Now on the board the journey meter is 400+ for me and 500+ for hardy. I
didn’t want that hardy will drive in nights so planned that till 5 PM we
reached to Ahmadabad so hardy can made his way to Baroda till 7 PM. In return we comeback with the same road via
Sanchor, Dhanera, Palanpur, Siddhpur, Unjha, and Mahesana - Ahmadabad Express
way via Kadi-Kalol. We found of 15 bikers of Royal Enfield near to Mahesana. We
were completely exhausted with 4 days riding but seeing those guys again got
some power to complete our journey.
Off course I and hardy
felt bad while departing but yes we had lots of things that we can keep with us
life time. We dream it and we make it. We found another perspective to get
motivated our self. That is none other than bike riding. Yes I am accepting
that I am not professional rider but that is also true that even professional
rider had not been rider at his very first journey. This four days we got lot
of things across which change our perspective of life. But the truth is that we
need to join our routine life from next day with positive mindset. This journey
is really unplanned one, supported by lots of people, nature and god without
all this three it never been possible for us.
I would like to thank
myself and hardy for the great commitment displayed during the entire trip.
There were no hesitations at any point of time during the journey. I would like
to thank mine and Hardy’s family member. I want to say sorry to my dad that I
did not informed you regarding this journey will took place on bike. My purpose
is to keep you tension and stress free. Also thanks to Rajasthan people who
direct us and help us as and when required. Special thanks to Asif Saiyad, if
he did not motivate me to write on this, then this entire wonderful thing would
never be plotted.
“Life is beautiful, there are lots of things to done and one of we did
this time”. We will be keeping doing in
future whenever the parameter permits me.
